Hospice of St. Laupsenn

A map of the Hospice, as sketched by an acolyte.
The Hospice was founded in the early 1300's, Dale Reckoning, by the clergy of Ilmater. Named for St. Laupsenn, a servant of the Broken God known for his work treating demonic plague after the Weeping war, some of the Temple's first patients were outcasts from society afflicted by some form of demonic sickness that was resistant to healing magics.
The Hospice today serves as a place for the hopelessly sick, and a major temple of Ilmater in Waterdeep's North Ward.

Emmilyn Shadowbane

A young priestess of Ilmater, Emmilyn grew up on the streets of Skullport before coming to Waterdeep in the care of a kindly Ilmaterian priest. She was raised among the clergy in the Hospice of St. Laupsenn.
As a young acolyte, she came upon a forgotten, artifact of her faith the Bloody Shackle of Irimae. A sign of the Suffering God's blessing, she continues to wield the shackles as an elect of the Broken God.
In the Year of the Sky Walker's Return (1490 DR,) Emmilyn was in the company of Berrogar of Bahamut, Fillaree Flourean, and Samerus Belabranta when the city of Daggerford came under siege by a marauding horde of gnolls led by a Shadow Demon. Blessed by her god, she slew the Demon with a single bolt of holy energy, destroying the morale of the horde, and turning the tide of battle, earning her the title Shadowbane.
